Tassels Workshop

Yesterday was a lovely day spent with the ladies at Mayhill Textiles. Jeanette who is also a member, gave us a workshop on tassel making. The photos really don't do them justice. We all used exactly the same techniques but because we used different materials they all look very different.

This is a picture of our tassels on the day. They have not been trimmed yet, they need to be left to settle. Mine is the blue one and also needs to settle because the outside strands are crooked. Click on the picture to see a larger version.

This is a picture of my tassle taken the next day. It still has not been trimmed but you can see that the strands are now a lot straighter. Click on the picture to see a larger version.

Nature and Goddesses

I am participating in an altered book round robin. We are each doing our own theme and Pascale's is "Nature and Goddesses". I chose the goddess Venus because she is the goddess of fertility. I created a lino cut of a statue of Venus which had been discovered in Romania.

Willowing Week 3

I am also doing workshops with Tam at www.willowing.ning.com. Week 3 is about shading. I am very pleased with how the girl came out. Her dress is not finished yet. Week 4 is about backgrounds, so this picture will progress then.

Suzi Blu

I am currently doing an online workshop with Suzi Blu. I finally managed to put it all together and do an A3 picture on birch pine. It is not the best example but I am pleased with it. I have been trying to draw and paint for 15 or so years now and I feel with this one that I have made some progress. I may attack it tomorrow and add more "connecting" colours, e.g. some pink in the background. But this is what it looks like today.
